Demo progress should carry into the full game

An official demo announcement says the demo and full version share the same save folder, so progress should be carried over. It also says you can switch to another save slot if you want to restart after buying the full game.

Treat the wording “should be carried over” literally. Before uninstalling anything, launch the full game on the same Windows account and confirm the expected slot appears. Steam Cloud is listed for the full game, but a local backup of important saves is still a sensible precaution.

What is different in the demo

The demo introduces the central alien-language puzzle and lets you decide whether the interface and self-directed note taking suit you. The official demo page also states that the full version of the dictionary is not available in the demo.

That limitation matters when comparing guides. A solution that assumes access to the complete dictionary may not be usable during the demo. Use early equations and repeated context as your main evidence, and keep your notes portable so they remain useful after upgrading.

Before you start

• Install only from Steam App 5195140.
• Prepare a notebook or a simple table for glyph, context, guess, and confidence.
• Use a fresh save slot if you want to replay the opening from zero.
• Do not expect the full in-game dictionary in the demo.
• Check the system-requirements page before downloading.
